Founding Simulation Engineer - Multibody & FEM
Founding Simulation Engineer - Multibody & FEM
Compensation: €50,000 - €60,000 + Equity
Bologna, Italy. Full-time.
Who we are
Liablix is an innovative startup transforming how road accidents are reconstructed and analyzed. Today, claims management is slow, opaque, and prone to fraud. We want to make it precise, fast, and automated; powered by AI.
We work at the intersection of computer vision, 3D reconstruction, and generative models to analyze vehicle damages, crash dynamics, and liability. It's a massive market, and we're convinced that the next insurtech unicorn will be born here.
We're VC-backed by top international funds that strongly believe in our vision and support our rapid growth.
Reconstructing an accident means simulating it. We're looking for a Founding Simulation Engineer to build our 3D multibody and FEM simulation engine for accident reconstruction: the physics core that turns images and evidence into crash dynamics, for every kind of vehicle on the road. Your mission is simple to state and very hard to achieve: make our simulations the most realistic ever seen in this industry.
What you'll do
Design and build our 3D multibody dynamics engine for vehicle motion, impact, and post-impact trajectories.
Develop FEM models of structural deformation to link vehicle damage to impact energy, speed, and direction.
Extend the engine to multiple vehicle classes: cars, motorcycles, trucks, bicycles, and pedestrians.
Validate against real-world crash data (NHTSA, Euro NCAP, real claims from our platform) and iterate until the results are court-grade.
Integrate the simulation core with our 3D reconstruction and AI pipeline, so scene geometry and damage estimates feed the physics directly.
Work side by side with one of the top experts in car accident simulation, who will help you turn decades of domain knowledge into software.
Optimize for speed: reconstructions must run in minutes on cloud infrastructure, not overnight on a workstation.
What we're looking for
Background in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Applied Mathematics (MSc or PhD).
Strong experience with multibody dynamics and/or FEM crash simulation (LS-DYNA, PAM-CRASH, Abaqus, Adams, Project Chrono, or your own solvers).
Solid grasp of contact and impact mechanics, vehicle dynamics, and numerical methods (time integration, stiff systems, convergence).
Good programming skills in C++ and/or Python; you can turn a paper into working code.
Experience with accident reconstruction, biomechanics, or automotive safety is a strong plus.
Entrepreneurial mindset: eager to build something that scales globally, not just a research prototype.
Being a genius is a strong plus.
What we offer
A pivotal role: you'll be among the first 10 team members and shape both the technology and culture of Liablix.
Competitive salary (RAL): €50,000 - €60,000 annually.
Equity: meaningful stake (indicatively 0.3% - 0.5%) in stock options with standard 4-year vesting (1-year cliff). Under the Italian innovative-startup regime, options are exempt from income tax and you only pay capital gains when you sell.
Salary growth built in: compensation is reviewed at the next funding round and upon hitting company milestones, plus a performance bonus.
Standard benefits: private health insurance, training and conference budget, flexibility on remote days (HQ in Bologna), periodic team retreats, personal financial advisor.
Accelerated growth: your name will be tied to one of the most ambitious AI startups in Europe.
Culture Fit
We’re a fit if:
You're an A-player who wants to work with other A-players.
You take ownership and thrive in fast-moving environments.
You want to build something big and put all of yourself into it.
We’re not a fit if:
You prefer predictable corporate roles with predefined tasks.
You're not ready to commit 100% to an early-stage journey.
You're only interested in running existing solvers, not building new ones.
Why join us
Tired of simulations that end up in a report nobody reads? Here your solver decides real cases: every model you build reconstructs real accidents and settles real claims, and the accuracy bar you set becomes the standard for an entire industry.
We're not looking for “employees.” We're looking for co-creators of Liablix's future.
You didn't buy Bitcoin in 2009, but you joined Liablix in 2026. Everyone says they want to join a unicorn early. Few actually do.
